About Me

Thank you for stopping by my page. I am Peter, an experienced leader and certified coach. My first formal leadership position began early when I was just fifteen, appointed as Patrol Leader in my scout troop. This role ignited my passion for leadership, and guiding others toward success.

My path has not been a linear one. After nearly a decade with a Fortune 500 company, I became a product of the recession and was laid off. This experience had a profound impact on me and marked the start of a pivotal journey, where I reconnected with my passion for leadership.

Throughout my career, I have worked for both non-profit and for-profit organizations leading individuals and teams to success. For the past decade, I have been a leader in the healthcare industry. The challenges I faced during the pandemic were both intense and transformative, pushing me to navigate unprecedented situations, adapt quickly, and find innovative solutions to support my team and patients.

This period tested my resilience and deepened my commitment to leadership, strengthening my ability to guide others through adversity. Today, I am committed to helping people rediscover their passion for leadership and fall in love with their profession again.

FAQs

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

Coaching and therapy are distinct practices, each with its own focus, goals, and methodologies. While there may be some overlap in the skills used by coaches and therapists depending on their own training, the primary differences lie in their purposes, time orientation, and the nature of the issues they address.

What is the focus and purpose?

Coaching: Focuses on helping individuals or groups achieve specific goals, enhance performance, and maximize their potential. It is forward-looking, action-oriented, and often centered around personal or professional development. Coaching may address the past to better understand the present.

Therapy: Primarily addresses mental health issues and focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders. Therapy explores the past, present, and future.

How long and how many sessions does it take?

Coaching: Typically lasts from 6 months to a year.

Therapy: Can last long-term, sometimes spanning multiple years.

What is the scope of issues addressed?

Coaching: Generally, deals with a broad range of topics, including career development, leadership skills, communication, relationships, and personal growth.

Therapy: Primarily addresses mental health and psychological disorders such as ADHD, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, conduct disorders, and sexual disorders.

What is client readiness in coaching?

Client readiness in coaching refers to the preparedness and willingness of an individual to engage in the coaching process effectively. It involves several factors:

Motivation: The client should be motivated to make changes and achieve specific goals. They must have a clear desire to improve and be open to new perspectives.

Self-Awareness: A certain level of self-awareness is essential for clients to understand their strengths, weaknesses, and areas for development. This helps them to set realistic and meaningful goals.

Commitment: Clients need to be committed to the coaching process, including attending sessions regularly, actively participating, and completing any assignments or action steps.

Openness to Feedback: Clients should be willing to receive and consider feedback constructively. This includes being open to exploring different viewpoints and adjusting based on the coach's input.

Emotional Readiness: Emotional stability is important as coaching can sometimes involve challenging conversations and self-  reflection. Clients should be in a state where they can handle these discussions productively.

Resource Availability: Clients should have the necessary resources, including time, energy, and financial means, to invest in the coaching process. Coaches typically assess these factors during initial consultations to determine if a client is ready for coaching and to ensure that the coaching relationship will be productive and beneficial.

What is the relationship dynamic?

The coaching relationship is co-creative and often more collaborative, with the coach serving as a guide or facilitator to help the client achieve their goals.

Collaborative Partnership: The coach and client work together as partners. The coach serves as a guide and facilitator, while the client is actively engaged in the process of setting and achieving their goals.

Goal-Oriented: The relationship is focused on helping the client reach specific, measurable goals. This often involves identifying objectives, creating action plans, and tracking progress.

Empowerment: Coaches aim to empower clients by helping them uncover their potential, build on their strengths, and develop new skills. The client is encouraged to take ownership of their growth and decision-making.

Non-Directive Approach: While coaches provide guidance and support, they do not dictate solutions. Instead, they ask powerful questions that help clients gain insights and find their own answers.

Confidentiality and Trust: A strong foundation of trust and confidentiality is essential. Clients need to feel safe to share openly and honestly without fear of judgment.

Action and Accountability: The coach helps the client develop actionable steps toward their goals and holds them accountable for following through. Regular check-ins and feedback are common to ensure progress.

Focus on the Present and Future: Coaching tends to be forward-looking and action oriented. While it may occasionally touch on past experiences dynamics provide action-oriented, the primary focus is on current challenges and future aspirations.

Supportive and Encouraging: The coach provides support, encouragement, and constructive feedback. They celebrate successes with the client and help them navigate obstacles.

These dynamics foster an environment where clients can grow, achieve their goals, and make meaningful changes in their personal or professional lives.
